Black Walnut

The black walnut hull contains several active compounds, with the most significant being juglone (5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone), hydrolyzable tannins such as ellagic acid and tannic acid, and iodine. Traditionally, it has been used to treat snakebites, open wounds, scurvy, ulcers, and is recognized as one of the most effective natural laxatives.

Rich in nutrients, the hull provides beta-carotene, plant acids, tannins, omega fatty acids, flavonoids, minerals, B vitamins, and vitamin C. Recently, it has garnered significant interest in modern medicine due to its potent antioxidant properties. Although considered a waste product, it has been widely utilized in traditional medicine for pain relief and skin disease treatments.

**Caution:**
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy or while nursing.
- Safe for occasional use up to two weeks; not intended for long-term use.
- Individuals with liver, kidney, or gastrointestinal conditions should use black walnut hull with caution, as it may cause irritation.
