For centuries, Senna has been used as a natural laxative. It works by stimulating the intestinal walls, causing contractions that promote bowel movements and effectively relieving severe constipation. Thanks to its glycoside content, which aids in transporting electrolytes, Senna helps cleanse the colon. Typically, bowel movements occur within six to 12 hours after use. While Senna is recognized for its laxative, cleansing, and anti-inflammatory properties, it should not be used regularly. Prolonged use—exceeding two weeks consecutively—may lead to lazy bowel syndrome.
